Outside Lands to become a 420 friendly music festival

Music festival Outside Lands has announced it will be the first major music festival to sell cannabis-based products onsite.

The San Francisco festival will include a 21+ area, dubbed “Grass Lands”, which will incorporate over a dozen cannabis vendors.

The 420 friendly festival Outside Lands includes headliners such as Childish Gambino, Flume, Paul Simmons and Twenty One Pilots.

San Francisco legalised recreational marijuana use in 2016 but public consumption of the drug is still illegal. This is why the “Grass Lands” area inside the Golden Gate Park, where the festival is being held, is designated for all things marijuana on the day. There will also be a separate area for both consumers and vendors within so that vendors aren’t at risk of getting a contact high.

Festival attendees will be able to buy up to seven grams of non-concentrated cannabis (plant) and two grams of concentrates (edibles, vapes).

Kiva Confections is a prominent cannabis organisation participating at “Grass Lands” in Outside Lands. Their co-founder Kristi Knoblich is excited for the attendees to try their products.

“Allowing public consumption at Outside Lands brings the plant and its users out of the shadows and shows that cannabis can be elevated, sophisticated, and normalized.”

If you’re thinking about flying over to America, the festival is on this weekend… but here’s hoping that festival’s like Outside Lands is setting the stage for what’s about to become the new norm for festivals.
