Spontaneous, playful moments and the occasional sweet slip-up: Parcels Live Vol 2

From Aussie beaches to Berlin beats, Parcels redefine sound in their latest release, ‘Live Vol. 2’

From the sun-soaked vibes of Byron Bay, Australia, Parcels burst onto the global music scene in 2014.

Since then, they’ve swapped surfboards for the bustling streets of Berlin, Germany, where they’ve been fine-tuning their distinct sound.

This week marks the drop of their fresh album, “Live Vol. 2,” available digitally and on vinyl via Because Music/Virgin Music Australia.

This twelve-track gem was cooked up at a secret gig in Paris last year, featuring five never-before-heard tunes.

Following the fan-favourite “Live Vol. 1” from 2020, this latest release dives headfirst into a new club-inspired sound, a vibe they road-tested at their banging live gigs last year.

For those who have watched their mind-blowing “Live from Hansa Studios, Berlin” session, you know Parcels doesn’t mess around.

Their rep for killer live shows was confirmed with a sold-out tour across Australia last year – from the Enmore Theatre in Sydney to The Tivoli in Brisbane, and The Forum in Melbourne.

Patrick Hetherington, one of the band’s main brains, shares their creative process. “We were less purist than we have been in the past.”

We edited the songs down here and there, took some of them out completely. We produced and mixed more actively, shooting for some sort of live/dance/studio hybrid.” But don’t worry, they kept the good stuff – those spontaneous, playful moments and the occasional sweet slip-up – all to make sure you get a taste of that electric night in the club.” Head over here for our exclusive interview with the band.

The crew is made up of the multi-talented Louie Swain on keys, Patrick Hetherington, who effortlessly switches between keys and guitar, Noah Hill on bass, Anatole “Toto” Serret keeping the beat on drums, and guitarist Jules Crommelin.

With “Live Vol. 2,” Parcels is solidifying their rep for epic performances.

But these guys aren’t taking a breather. They’ve set their sights on the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in the US, promising a show of epic proportions.

And come March 2024, they’re hitting the road for their first-ever Asia Tour, spreading their sound across Thailand, Japan, South Korea, The Philippines, China, and Taiwan.

Parcels is proving they’re not just a band – they’re a global sensation.
