As part of the upcoming Pink Floyd box set The Early Years 1965 – 1972, the band has reached deep down into some of the rarest cuts of video and audio they own. The set will chronicle the first years of Floyd’s lifetime, with Syd Barrett as their frontman prior to their breakthrough thanks to Dark Side of the Moon.
One of the more interesting sections of the band’s history comes directly after they parted ways with Barrett and recorded the soundtrack to the 1969 arthouse film More. To hype up the release of the box set, they’ve thrown together an official music video, their first in years, for one cut from that soundtrack – Green Is The Colour.
Bringing life to an original Pink Floyd song from a 1969 arthouse film soundtrack, the band have formally released an official video for Green Is The Colour.
The clip features footage from a 1970 Pink Floyd concert in Saint-Tropez, France interspersed with new footage captured by Nick Edwards. The new shots seem directly inspired by the album cover of the group’s latest album, The Endless River, given it’s heavenly, cloudy motif.
The Early Years will net you 27 discs all together, featuring CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray and 7″ vinyls. There’s several versions of Green Is The Colour in there, the whole film More, documentary style footage from that period and heaps more related memorabilia.
It will be available November 11th.
