Post Child are an up and coming 4 piece from Chicago that produce their own brand of indie / garage rock. Following an EP and a handful of singles the band have just put out their debut album which puts forward 10 hard hitting rock tunes.
An instant kick of slimy garage tunes – Chicago’s Post Child will make you take up smoking and steal your sister’s boyfriend.
The album bursts open with the fast and furious Make it Bleed. The thumping drums get you head banging along while the slightly distorting guitars complete the hazy heavy sound! The track is completely topped off with a surfy grungy guitar solo that lifts the energy levels even further!
Simple Mind is the perfect indie rock tune with a good balance of heavy grunge and heavy pop somewhat reminiscent to Weezer or Pavement.
Dear Jane is solid pop rock offering. There is some great garage rock sounds packed up in a slick box to work as a great radio tune.
Infinite Moment swings from being a chilled out psychedelic offering to a blasting ball of heavy grunge energy. The two contrasts work well at allowing the others power and feel to be fully realised.
Stop What You Are Doing To Me is an amazing garage punk rock offering. Racing by with great pace, it shows off the bands ability to create a rough and raw blast!
Popped sees the grunge completely take over with the distortion flowing everywhere to create a thick layer of atmosphere. The dysfunctional instrumental break works well at creating the raw punk vibe!
AUM Juice is a fast and heavy No Wave style tune, sounding like a faster version of Sonic Youth. The shoegaze and grunge vibes force their way out while the fast tight and heavy tunes give the song a great rocking backbone!
Unrealism is a psychedelic pop tune in the vein of the Dandy Warhols. The mix of catchy beats and a slightly Eastern sounding guitar create an intriguing sound that is unique yet slick and poppy!
The album ends with as much energy as it began with the very loud and grungy I’m a Stone!
This is a great debut album that is packed with energy noise and grunt. The band are able to rock it out as well as anyone else with all the rawness and heaviness that goes with it. At the same time they are able to put their own unique slant on the genre to make it their own and put out something that’s fresh!
