With string of killer singles and an EP behind them, Newcastle’s premiere exponents of powerpop Maids are charging around the country for a brief, raucous tour in April, armed with a new single, Girl Power.
Renowned for their blistering live show, Maids will be playing up and down the East Coast on a 5-date tour, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and a homecoming show in Newcastle to top it off.
The tour follows their brand new single Girl Power, a sludgy blend of doom, metal, classic rock and Katy Perry melodies. According to dummer/vocalist Sean Cook, who wrote, mixed and recorded the track, “It’s a story about a girl rejecting a man harassing her in a nightclub. Girls are often sexually objectified, particularly in hip hop, and I wanted to poke fun at the sleazy nature of a lot of men.”
