PREMIERE: E.J. Worland crafts a timeless soul sound in his new video ‘Do Better (Make Me Wanna Scream)’

Australian-born, Los Angeles-based musician E.J. Worland dropped into the music consciousness last November with the release of his debut single Drown In You. Today he’s unveiled the next taste, a tune called Do Better (Make Me Wanna Scream).

The two tracks come off an upcoming EP Worland recorded in LA with Tony Buchen (The Preatures, Courtney Barnett), set to be released this year. If the first nibbles are anything to go by, we’re all in for a real treat.

Soak in the rich American flavours of Do Better (Make Me Wanna Scream), the newest track and video from E.J. Worland.

Directed by Tim Nathan and shot by Ed Triglone, the film clip for Do Better (Make Me Wanna Scream) features a number a different characters shot in-studio. It all feels very LA; snippets of screen tests or stylised advertisements that lend an extra level of cool to an already sophisticated clip.

The song itself isn’t what you’d call Australian sounding, with its roots more firmly in American soul. Worland’s voice has a Bill Withers-level croon to it, full of character. Some well placed backing vocals make for a tune that’s dapper and catchy.

Do Better (Make Me Wanna Scream) is out everywhere on Friday February 21st.
