Since dropping their debut double EP back in 2014, Mississippi outfit Empty Atlas have carved out a unique space for themselves within the realm of indie rock.
Their music feels raw and earthy, while simultaneously bursting with infectious energy. It’s the kind of music that will stick with you for weeks.
Short Fiction, the incredibly heartwarming new track from Mississippi outfit Empty Atlas, is brimming with clever lyricism and addictive vocal melodies.
Made up of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Micah Smith, bassist Alex Ingram, lead guitarist Brennan Michael White, and drummer Robert Currie Hansford, the four-piece create incredibly heartwarming music that somehow manages to feel both nostalgic and fresh.
On their new single Short Fiction, the band meld characteristics of indie-rock, folk, and pop to craft a sound that belongs entirely to themselves.
“Short Fiction is about looking back on the paths you didn’t take, for better or worse,” the band say of the new single.
The track sees Smith flaunt his penchant for endearing songwriting, packing the song’s four minute duration with well thought-out lyricism and addictive vocal melodies.
This is the first we’ve heard from the band since their debut full-length album Hestia dropped in 2016. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear more from this group.
