For someone who takes their name from an international symbol of cuteness and innocence, Pikachunes has proven he knows how to make a filthy track. This remix of Fascinator’s Oh Bukkake is even naughtier than the original, a fetish-infused tune that probably isn’t what Pikachu blasts in his spare time.
That is, unless Pikachu has a secretive soft spot for the kind of scuzzy techno you expect to hear in the darkest corners of clubs you don’t tell your girlfriend about.

Pikachunes’ grimy remix of Fascinator’s Oh Bukkake takes an aggressively nasty track and somehow fattens it up with even smuttier new flavours.
A successful remix gives a killer track a new spin in the style of the remixing artist. Too often, this results in a messed-up new version that’s utterly indistinguishable from whence it came – the line between losing the influence of the original and making a tune your own is thinner than cheese wire.
Pikachunes walks this precarious line with ease on this remix. All of the slimy licks that make Fascinator’s original are there – the cheeky synth hook and the creeping church vox are instantly recognisable, but Pikachunes’ grotty, beat-heavy influence is just as obvious.
The bassline’s co-dependancy with the percussion isn’t a flaw, but a thriving energy source that gives each beat enough weight to bend steel. It’s the kind of punch you need to hear through a disgustingly powerful PA to absorb, an aural uppercut worthy of Modeselektor or early Chemical Brothers tracks combined with the atmosphere of Seekae’s instrumental LP +DOME.
The abrasiveness of the original is gone, the main line easing off a little compared to the resonant, slightly screechy incarnation Fascinator pushed. The percussion seems more considered too, holding back when it should and smashing out a healthy dose of cowbell in all the right places.
It could be Pika’s most club ready track yet, his usual brand of choral, sordid pop finding less of a footing in such a high tempo jam. The absence of his vocals are also noticeable, but forgiven; contemporary masters of unsavoury electro like Audion and Âme prove that sometimes a vocal line is better left out, and Pikachunes follows suit here by letting the hammering track do the talking.
Like a top-notch bukkake, this track will leave you with full body satisfaction – but you’ll probably feel like taking a shower afterwards. Throw your inhibitions away, and cover yourself in this ripper of a track from Melbourne’s Pikachunes.
