PREMIERE: Octavian drop a certified blues rock banger with their new single Running

Sydney three-piece Octavian lay down a bangin’ and blissful blues rock banger with their newest single.

Running is a refined and colourful addition to the group’s catalogue. The third single is a feather in their cap and a big step forward for their alt-rock sound, slotting right into place amongst Ghost and Chocolate Heart as a certified blues rock banger.

Octavian

Octavian’s latest single Running carries a captivating sense of sincerity bolstered by a funky rhythm section, bellowing vocals and groovy guitar.

In addition to the emotional and fiery melodies, Running has the ability to invigorate even the most lifeless among us through hearty, unadulterated alternative blues.

From start to finish the song builds in temperament and timbre. As such, you’ll easily be able to envision yourself cruising down the highway to this one. While riveting and rhythmic, the single’s soul-searching tone is also bolstered by vivid, thoughtful lyricism.

“I woke up in a field of colours. Running from my father and mother. You gave me a paradise. Even just for a little while.”

Danceable, funky and highly listenable, the groove-charged Running offers a hopeful hint of future sounds we can expect from the group.

Comprised of Joshua Lloyd (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Corey Goldby (Bass, Vocals) and Nicholas Gale (Drums), Octavian released their 2016 single Chocolate Heart after playing the Taubertal Festival in Germany.

What resulted was a wicked cool and hammering song. A fusion of their love for sonic soundscapes and fuzzy guitar riffs. With influences drawn from seminal alternative rock acts such as U2, Foals, Band of Gypsys and Wolfmother, it’s clear to see why the groove runs so strong with Octavian.

Octavian will be supported by The Blenheims and Last Thursday at their Running release party on April 19. Make sure you head down to Newtown’s The Bank Hotel for the gig and get your groove on. Tickets can be bought here.
