PREMIERE: The debut single from Spacey Jane almost didn’t make it, but we’re so glad it did

Most definitely a labour of love, Still Running, the debut release from Perth’s Spacey Jane, hits all the right notes. Packed full of pulsating rhythm and dirty guitars, the track pulls off clarity of tone and sharp lyricism with perfection.

Written, recorded and mixed over the space of nearly two years, with band members in and out and a hiatus for travel, Spacey Jane almost didn’t get Still Running off the ground. But determination won and we are now able to share with you a song so fine tuned it is very hard to believe that it’s their first official release.

And that’s not all, the band has whispered that Still Running is just one track to appear on their upcoming EP No Way To Treat An Animal.

Spacey Jane

Still Running from Spacey Jane is impressive and impeccably crafted, fine tuned within an inch of its life, but without losing that sense of adolescent abandon.

While they might not be able to put their finger on exactly how, the track is a reflection of many changes the group have navigated since their inception. Musically they’ve held onto the energy of smething new and exciting, but their vision has definitely developed.

Spacey Jane have had enough time to turn Still Running into a song that surpasses their youth. With each listen, notes of The Strokes, Kings of Leon and The Vines ring through and without drawing too much from their influences, the band have integrated a bold indie pop sound with their own raw Australian top coat.

If you’re keen to catch Spacey Jane launch the single live then get over to Mojo’s tonight where they will be performing alongside Western Kinsmen of the Sun.
