A few months ago, Melbourne-based pop/R&B artist THE GAZE teamed with New York drag artist Robyn Banks to deliver his debut single Karaoke.
Now, the emerging singer-songwriter has unveiled a brand new video for the track… and we’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.
On his new video for Karaoke, Melbourne-based artist THE GAZE brilliantly recreates a woozy night out through the lens of a phone camera.
The new clip was shot entirely using smartphones, and is made up largely of phone footage from nights out in LA, Ho Chi Minh City, Osaka and Melbourne.
The video’s glitchy and woozy neon-coloured imagery perfectly aligns with the track’s themes of making drunken mistakes. Walking through this new video feels like reliving a big night out through the perspective of an Instagram story.
The song itself sees THE GAZE glide through a unique meld of glassy production and emotive vocal delivery to deliver a sound that’s completely his own.
THE GAZE plans to release his debut five-track EP at some point next year, so keep your eyes peeled – it appears we can expect more quality tunes from this Melbourne artist sooner rather than later.
For now, do yourself a favour and watch the new video for Karaoke above.
