With a string of EPs and singles under their belts, Melbourne-based six-piece Winter Moon have spent the past number of years carving out a unique space for themselves in the Australian alt-rock community. Their music is simultaneously epic and raw; it’s cinematic but direct.
Last month, we premiered their single Who Are You; a vintage-style psych-rock chugger… and with its release, we were immediately hooked. So today, it should go without saying that we’re stoked to be premiering their next single Shivers.
On their new single Shivers, Melbourne six-piece Winter Moon deliver a cinematic slice of soulful alt-rock brilliance.
Across the track’s four-minute run-time, Winter Moon saunter through a concoction of alt-rock, psych, and soul, delivering a sound that is entirely their own. With rich instrumentation and powerful vocal hooks, Shivers builds slowly into something truly cathartic.
As resonant piano lines are layered with jazzy guitar flourishes, the perfect bed for vocalist Milly Moon’s honest lyricism is created. Each of the song’s elements are weaved seamlessly into one another, and the result is a track that you’ll be unable to rip your attention away from.
Shivers is the latest cut taken from the band’s upcoming full-length album Make Real, Make Believe, which is due out May 10th. Judging by everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes. In the meantime, do yourself a favour and listen to Shivers above.
Catch Winter Moon will be launching the new album at The Evelyn in Melbourne on May 10th.
