PREMIERE: Wolver realise their full potential with a Spector-esque wall of sounds on new single Geneva

After an intentional three-year hiatus from the recording studio, Brisbane outfit Wolver have refined their sound and more than strengthened their live set.

The return was with their angular lead single Play Dead, a moody, turbulent, and expansive track that really drove home the band’s sound complete with a wild saxophone part played by Joe Saxby (Big Bad Echo, These Guy).

For those seeking a further trip down the introspective rabbit hole, Wolver are not ones to disappoint. The band are back with another incredible single.

WolverWolver let loose a detonation of sounds and drip with angst on brand spanking new single, Geneva.

Bunkering down with producer Steve Kempnich (Orphans Orphans) Wolver have crafted something magical with their new single. It’s time to wrap your ears around Geneva, a beautiful constructed mess of angst, winding guitars, a thumping rhythm section, and raw, sweeping vocals that all come together to create one hell of a cathartic release.

This is a band coming forth with intent, the song mirroring their unhurried but powerful rise.

As the track builds, the layers get deeper until you are left all encompassed by the Spector-esque wall of sound, reminiscent of Texan instrumentalists Explosions In The Sky, or in fact an actual explosion in the sky.

It’s the type of song we want playing while we ride horseback into the desert armed with nothing but a satchel of peyote and a wide-eyed set of dreams. That scenario is unlikely so we’ll take listening to this song on repeat staring out the window wondering what a horse on peyote would look like.

Anything is possible, and Wolver have realised that.
