Raging Moby releases single ‘Gonna Bring You Down’ marking the start of a new era

Gonna Bring You Down is a polished psychedelic rock track that marks the start of a new era for Melbourne rockers Raging Moby.

Quietly sitting in the Melbourne music scene, rock outfit Raging Moby has been working on evolving their sound. Working on creating a polished and psychedelic accent, they found themselves shifting their focus from the mundanity or urban existence to the allure of escapism, which encapsulates the punchy musical direction of a brighter post-Covid future for the band.

Now based on Victoria’s Surf Coast, the six-piece sonic expansion blends elements of surf rock, disco, and hard rock with heavy doses of psych.

With a mix of reverb-drenched, riff-oriented numbers up their sleeve, Raging Moby has released their latest track Gonna Bring You Down, which is paving the way for a new era for the band.

Gonna Bring You Down sees the band taking a new direction, with punchy vocal hooks, and an infectious lead melodic guitar riff. Delicious psychedelic elements peppered throughout the track, which was inspired by the Californian psychedelic rock scene. The band takes influence from acts such as Allah Las and Levitation Room to help shape their new foundation.

Gonna Bring You Down was recorded at Big Fridge Studios, near Ocean Grove in Victoria. The band focuses on creating a cohesive dynamic for three jangly guitars to bring the song to life. The distinct tone of the main guitar riff is a twelve-string electric played by songwriter Liam Hogan. The lyrical content is centered around a toxic environment, created through insecurity and a lack of communication.

Guitarist Aiden Pangrazio told Happy: “Similar to stuff from our first EP ‘Mundane Insanity’, we’ve contrasted some positive and uplifting instrumentation with darker lyrical elements. I think what sets it apart from our first EP is that there is now a much clearer dynamic between our instruments. Being a six-piece with three guitarists can make for messy music if not done well, so that’s been a big focus for us.”
