The FBi SMAC Awards went down yesterday at Carriageworks, seeing acts like Royal Headache, Shining Bird and Sampa The Great walk away from the evening victorious.
The awards have been running annually since 2008, and pay homage to the up and coming talent of Sydney. The SMAC of the Year was awarded to Ben Marshall, who is Head of Contemporary Music at the Sydney Opera House and frequently offers Opera House stages to upcoming homegrown acts.
Record of the Year was taken out by Royal Headache for their album High, with the band also nabbing the award for Best Live Music Act. Shining Bird were awarded Song of the Year, for their track Rivermouth which saw huge success after it’s release in September last year.
And massive shout out to Joyride and Raph from The Meeting Tree for doing a great job hosting the night as well, those dudes are legends.
