If you were at Happy Mag’s 5th Birthday at the Kings Cross Hotel, or if you’ve lived in Sydney’s inner west of late, you might have caught Ruben Neeson put on a little live show.
The songwriter is set to jet overseas to the United States, and he’s putting on a show to celebrate. Head down to Newtown’s infamous Waywards to catch a goodbye-for-now set with Neeson and a special appearance by his well-loved former band Hunch.
On Friday January 15th drop down to Waywards to celebrate Neeson’s new single Fill Your Glass and bid him farewell before he takes off to pursue his career in New York.
Neeson has recently moved towards a solo career, however, that’s not without previously dabbling with other various indie, grunge, and alt-rock outfits. One of these projects was Hunch, who disbanded in 2018 but will be reuniting for the show. Get ready to hear the room fill up with their vibrant indie rock, soaked with a unique sense of doom which never failed to make their tunes stand out.
And of course, sway to the rhythm of Ruben Neeson’s alt-country steeze before he takes all it to the Big Apple.
The gig is free, however, there will be an opportunity to donate to NSW Rural Fire Service and WIRES, displaying once more just how instrumental the music world has been in raising much-needed funds for those affected by the bushfire crisis.
So, get on down to Waywards this Friday with Ruben Neeson and Hunch. More information can be found here.
