Beloved Aussie indie darlings, San Cisco, have dropped some good news on our laps in the form of a stellar new single, and a major tour announce, set to kick off this November.
To celebrate the occasion, the band has dropped a video for their latest single, “Under The Light,” a sun-soaked dance anthem that’s as infectious as it is irresistible.
Known for their high-energy and euphoric live performances, San Cisco is gearing up for a nine-stop tour that spans November and December.
The journey will take them through major cities including Kingscliff, Brisbane, Sydney, Gosford, Adelaide, Melbourne, and back to their hometown of Perth, where it all began.
The band shares their excitement, stating, “This marks our first extensive run of shows in a while, and we can’t wait to showcase our new songs live. It’s the aspect of being in a band that we cherish the most.”
Sharing the stage and adding their unique flavor to the tour will be fellow Fremantle artist, Noah Dillon. “For those attending, brush up on the lyrics because you’re invited to join the San Cisco choir – we want to hear you sing!” they cheerfully announce.
The freshly released single, “Under The Light,” co-written with Jay Watson (GUM, Pond, Tame Impala), is a masterful blend of propulsive momentum and nostalgic undertones.
The track strikes a delicate balance between euphoria and introspection, drawing listeners into its compelling sonic landscape.
Drummer Scarlett Stevens describes the evolution of the song, revealing, “Initially, it had the vibe of a rebellious party anthem, reminiscent of Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ – a tale of a wild night out followed by the regretful morning after.”
However, as the songwriting process unfolded, it evolved into something deeper and more meaningful. “We envisioned a scenario where the nightclub lights come on, exposing the truth of the night.
This theme metaphorically resonated with the idea of being in the spotlight as individuals, confronting uncomfortable truths about growing up,” adds Scarlett.
The official music video for “Under The Light,” directed by Caely Wesson, transports viewers to an aquatic-themed coastal beach rave, set against the backdrop of the ruins of ‘Alantis’ – a once-vibrant theme park in Perth, WA.
The video captures the band members dancing around a massive King Neptune statue, a relic from the theme park’s heyday.
Director Caely Wesson draws parallels between the mythical realm of Atlantis and the song’s exploration of reality and love’s complexities, stating, “The location encapsulated a lost world of myth, a perfect setting for ‘Under the Light,’ with its lyrics blurring the line between authenticity and the illusion of love.”
Collaborating with editor James Medlam, Wesson weaves vintage footage with modern visuals, creating a mesmerizing visual narrative that complements the song’s journey.
