Sofia Coppola set to direct a film adaptation of ‘Elvis and Me’ memoir

Sofia Coppola will be directing the next A24 film, titled Priscilla, based on the best-selling ’80s memoir, Elvis and Me.

With Elvis currently on the tips of everyone’s tongues, we were all wondering when Priscilla was going to get her day in the sun, and boy are we glad it’s in the capable hands of Sofia Coppola!

Simply called Priscilla, Coppola is putting the spotlight on Elvis Presley’s wife, by directing a film adaptation of the 1985 Elvis and Me memoir, written by Priscilla Presley and Sandra Harmon.

The bio is a riveting first-hand account of when Priscilla Anne Wagner, 14, met Elvis Presley, 24. It offers insight into their marriage, and all of the trials and tribulations that led to their divorce. With Australia’s own Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) and Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown) already on board to star, and with A24 to produce, my eye holes cannot wait for this!

This is not the first time that Sofia Coppola has teamed with A24 for a feature. Previously, they have collaborated on On The Rocks and The Bling RingIt will be interesting to see Coppola’s take on one of the most famous marriages in history. To date, there has been one previous adaptation of the biography, titled Elvis and Me (TV Movie 1988). As you can imagine, TV films in the ’80s were dramatic, and saccharine at best, which potentially makes it a classic in its own right. However, for more info on Priscilla, stay tuned for updates.
