Soul Jazz to release a vinyl compilation of Keith Haring-inspired music

Soul Jazz Label are set to release a compilation, Keith Haring: The World of Keith Haring, to accompany an exhibition of his work at Tate Liverpool next month.

Haring (May 4, 1958 – February 16, 1990) was an American artist and activist that was extremely influential to the New York art scene during the 1980’s. He is remembered for his colourful motifs and wobbly street art.

The Keith Haring compilation will feature artists like Fab 5 Freddy, Jonzun Crew, Yoko Ono, Johnny Dynell, Art Zoyd and Class Action.

The compilation comes after a previous collaboration between Soul Jazz and Tate, with the gallery’s 2017 exhibition Soul Of A Nation receiving two accompanying releases.

Last April it was reported that two salvaged pieces of a Haring mural were to be displayed after three decades of being dismantled. The display of the mural highlights the historical and cultural importance of Haring’s art.

Keith Haring at Tate Liverpool runs from 14th June 2019 – 10th November 2019.
