Psychedelic surf-rock band Ocean Alley have been revealed as Splendour in the Grass’ ‘Mystery Oz Act’.
This may come as a slight surprise given the band performed at Splendour in 2018. Some may have expected a different Aussie artist to seize the mystery act mantle.
At least this puts to rest rumours that Midnight Oil, Powderfinger, Silver Chair, or even The Middle East, may occupy the position.
Ocean Alley have continued their exponential progression into the spotlight this year with their Triple J Hottest 100 win for Confidence. This adds to the powerful success narrative that has closely followed the band so far, ever since their breakthrough album Chiaroscuro saw them crack into the mainstream arena.
The band has also had some exciting live performances, including a gig at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest in April, and their ongoing current North America tour.
2019’s Splendour line up has us salivating. Ocean Alley will be performing alongside a quality list of headliners including Childish Gambino, Chance The Rapper, Tame Impala, and SZA. 2018 set a high standard for Splendour Festivals, and we hope this year is no different.
Approximately 50,000 people make the pilgrimage to the North Byron Parklands to attend the festival every year. You can grab your tickets for the 2019 festival through the Splendour website.
