Perth lad Morgan Bain is a songwriter, performer and absolute dreamboat beyond his years. Velvety-smooth vocals drip softly from each of his thoughtfully penned lyrics, and you won’t be able to tear yourself away.

At 21 years young, this talented singer/songwriter is no stranger to the spotlight or what it means to be a working musician, having made a start at writing, releasing and touring his music far earlier than most.

Having already toured with some of Australia’s hardest rockers, Morgan Bain is tearing apart the competition with a voice that’s simply too damn good.

The experience shows as Bain continues to manifest his own, deeply personal experiences into heart-wrenching hits.

“I am a very emotional person and I write about my personal experiences,” Bain said of his writing style.

This rings especially true of his latest offering, Summed It Up. This soulfully crafted tune, worked on with producer and collaborator Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe, Meg Mac, Little Birdy), has a funky, edgy sound, coupled with emotionally electric lyrics set to throw you straight back into the turbulent headwind of lost love you thought you’d forgotten.

Summed It Up comes from a pretty dark place lyrically. It’s from the anxiety you create from feeling so desperate and lost with in a relationship… One great thing out of it though is that I learned a lot about songwriting and who I was as a human being and what kind of artist I was.”

The tune definitely gives fans a pretty good indication of the breadth in songwriting and musical talent this young tunesmith has to offer.

Bain pulls musical inspiration not only from his lived experiences, but also from other artists who share facets of his fervent, soulful and tender sound. Influences from the likes of Justin Vernon, The Weeknd, André 3000 and Frank Ocean have made their impact on the tactically potent songwriting and provocative, strong, yet expressive sound of Morgan Bain.

Some recent collaborations have highlighted Bain’s diverse skill set and adaptable sound. After performing together at Come Together Festival, he recently worked alongside the fellow Perth-local Drapht to arrange and perform a bloody good cover of The Avalanches’ Frankie Sinatra for Triple J’s Like a Version.

“We just wanted to do something different and really original, something that stands out and I think we did that,” said Bain of the collaboration.”

You can continue to be enraptured by Morgan Bain’s sound when he takes the stage in support of Dan Sultan during his upcoming Magnetic  tour kicking off in November. And don’t forget to keep your eyes and ears peeled for Bain’s forthcoming EP, due out later this year.

You can catch Morgan Bain at Castaway Festival, Saturday December 11th. Final release is on sale right now – get tickets here and find out more details here.
