Lucky for us, streaming giant Netflix is once again expanding its popular “Stranger Things” franchise with a brand new animated series set within the show’s world. Although most of the details about the new series are still under wraps, it has been revealed that the show was developed by Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions.

Robles, who has previously created animated shows such as “Random! Cartoons,” “Fanboy & Chum Chum,” and “Glitch Techs,” is working alongside “Stranger Things” creators the Duffer brothers, who are executive producers via Upside Down Pictures, and Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps.

The Duffer brothers expressed their excitement for the new animated series in a statement, saying, “We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”

“Stranger Things” has been a massive hit for Netflix since its debut in 2016, and it was recently renewed for a fifth and final season. The streaming service has also announced plans for a live-action spinoff series and a stage show, with the Duffers forming Upside Down Pictures to work on these projects.

No details about the live-action spinoff have been revealed yet, but the Duffers have previously said that it will not focus on characters like Eleven or Steve Harrington. The stage show, which is set to take place in Hawkins in 1959, will debut in London’s West End.

In addition to these “Stranger Things” projects, the Duffers are also working on a live-action TV version of the Japanese manga and anime series “Death Note,” as well as a series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub’s book “The Talisman” alongside Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and Paramount Television.

With so much “Stranger Things” content in the works, fans of the show can look forward to plenty of adventures in the Upside Down for years to come.
