Sylvester Stallone shares Bruce Willis update

The Rocky star has shared an update on his friend and colleague Bruce Willis’s aphasia struggle, saying he is going through ‘really, really difficult times’

Fans hold a special place in their hearts for the Moonlighting, Die Hard legend, so any news on his well-being is met with an attentive audience. Sylvester Stallone has offered up an emotional update about the health of his longtime friend Bruce Willis.

In a recent interview, Stallone was asked if he had been in touch with Willis since his announcement in March that he was retiring from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a cognitive disorder that affects a person’s ability to speak and understand others.

“Bruce is going through some really, really difficult times,” Stallone told The Hollywood Reporter. “So he’s been sort of incommunicado. That kills me. It’s so sad.”

The pair have been friends, and business partners for years, as well as acting together in Stallone’s The Expendables franchise.

It hasn’t been all roses, with a minor dispute breaking out between the duo over a disagreement over Willis’s salary for the third instalment of The Expendables in 2013. Willis reportedly wanted $4 million for four days of filming while Stallone didn’t budge over $3 million. At the time, Stallone, known for his public outbursts via social media, called out Willis for being “greedy and lazy“. Willis ultimately stepped down from the role as Mr. Church, however the duo did makeup, with Stallone later sharing that Willis was “a stand-up guy.” At the press conference ahead of the film’s release, Stallone said calling Willis out was “nothing personal.”

In the early ’90s, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Willis’s first wife Demi Moore the group backed the Planet Hollywood franchise.

When Willis shared the news about his health earlier this year, Stallone was one of the first to reach out publicly, posting a selection of old photos of them together, writing,”We go back a long way, praying for the best for you and your wonderful family…”
