Tame Impala and 2001: A Space Odyssey? Watch the Stanley Kubrick and Kevin Parker supercut you didn’t know you wanted

Fan made videos are tough; they occupy the entire spectrum from utter and complete dirt through to total masterpieces. Unfortunately, the majority are on the lower end, but every cloud has it’s silver lining, and sometimes a fan video comes through with all the goods.

The latest needle in the haystack is a fan made video clip for Tame Impala‘s Eventually. Youtube user Seniorchang has spliced the sexy psychedelic tune with footage from Stanley Kubrick’s cult classic 2001: A Space Odyssey and the results are incredible.

You might not be able to take a trip to space yet, but this is pretty damn close. A mashup of Tame Impala and 2001: A Space Odyssey is your tasty ticket to the cosmos.

It’s a miracle this doesn’t happen more often. Tame Impala’s spacey, warbling synth and guitar sounds are practically an invitation for a film clip packed with bright stars, pretty planets and the odd nebula.

We get the feeling Kevin Parker would approve.

Although Eventually and 2001: A Space Odyssey are separated by almost half a century, with Kubrick’s film seeing release in 1968, the two works of art sync up almost perfectly. It could have been the actual film clip!

Watch the full video below. If you haven’t seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, it’s really worth a watch – one classic that has truly stood the test of time. And if you haven’t listened to Eventually…have you been living under a rock?
