On Saturday of June 17, the best of the Australian music scene will conquer the Big Apple, leaving a trail of captivated souls in its wake. Among the already stellar lineup, Sydney’s hip-hop sensation, 1300, alongside Spiderbait, Peach PRC, and Budjerah will grace the stage, unleashing their captivating sounds upon the eager audience.
Presented by Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage and Sounds Australia, in association with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, this free mini-festival promises to immerse you in the vibrant tapestry of Australian music, right in the heart of Central Park.
Now in its third year, THE AUSSIE BBQ SummerStage has become a magnetic force, drawing thousands of eager New Yorkers who yearn to explore the vast breadth, diverse flavors, and rich history of Australian sounds. The inaugural showcase in 2019 witnessed a staggering crowd of 5000, lured by the mesmerizing performances of A.B. Original, Hermitude, The Teskey Brothers, Tkay Maidza, San Cisco, and WAAX.
After enduring a temporary hiatus caused by the unwelcome intrusion of COVID-19 lockdowns and travel restrictions, THE AUSSIE BBQ SummerStage made an explosive comeback last year. The stellar lineup featuring the likes of Baker Boy, Electric Fields, G Flip, Haiku Hands, Peking Duk, and You Am I reignited the passion and excitement that had been temporarily subdued.
And now, in 2023, the excitement has reached an intoxicating fever pitch for multiple reasons. The highly anticipated debuts of 1300, L-FRESH The LION, and Peach PRC on American soil promise to be nothing short of spectacular, as they unleash their raw talent upon the New York crowd. Furthermore, Amy Shark, one of Australia’s music luminaries, will grace the stage in one of her first performances outside of her homeland since the pandemic struck. This momentous return carries a triumphant aura, especially considering her role as a judge on Australian Idol.
