The National premiere five new songs in short film I Am Easy To Find

With the announcement of  The National’s I Am Easy To Find out this Friday May 17, the band have released a short film to accompany their latest record.

I Am Easy To Find features Alicia Vikander in all stages of middle-class life by delving into each period from birth to death, as if we were watching a stranger’s home videos. Rather than focusing on single events, I Am Easy To Find is a complete emotional overview of life carried by the talent of Vikander’s expression.

Starring Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and directed by Mike Mills, the 26-minute I Am Easy To Find film features reworked versions of five tracks from The National’s new album.

The circle of life is a key symbol in the film, with an emphasis on temporary friendships, marriage breakdowns, financial issues and nostalgic experiences. The National’s soundtrack to the short film plays two roles – one acting as pure background music to an engrossed viewer and the other as a spotlight on the highlights and lowlights of Vikander’s life story.

Mills has worked with The National on multiple occasions, having directed both music clips for Light Years and Hairpin Turns. Check out the video for yourself below:
