The Weeknd announces new album, ‘Dawn FM’, dropping January 7

After months of cryptic clues, The Weeknd’s much-anticipated follow-up to After Hours is almost here, and we’re ready for it!

Global pop artist The Weeknd (also known as Abel Tesfaye) has ushered in the new year with a new era of music. His long-awaited album, Dawn FM, is set to drop this Friday.

After teasing his fans about the upcoming release over a number of cryptic Instagram posts, the singer finally launched a minute-long trailer that showcases a “new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd.”

The Canadian star, known for chart-topping hits like Starboy and Blinding Lights, gave us our first taste of the much-anticipated album back in August, with the release of Take My Breath; an upbeat and catchy single that skilfully fuses pop, synth-wave, and funk to create an irrefutably-danceable track that’s highly nostalgic of 80’s disco, but carries a modern twist.

The trailer posted earlier today reveals an impressive line-up of album collaborators including Jim Carrey, Quincy Jones, Lil Wayne, and Tyler, The Creator. Much like the film work surrounding his former albums, the cinematic qualities of this captivating teaser have definitely elevated our excitement for the release of this project at the end of the week!

Dawn FM will be the singer’s fifth studio album, following the enormously successful After Hours which dropped in March of 2020. In preparation for Friday’s release, the singer took to Twitter today and urged his fans to keep their eyes peeled for the album cover and pre-save arriving “at dawn tomorrow…”
