The United Nations estimated that the 15th of November would be the day that we would reach the milestone of 8 billion human beings, and as it turns out they were right.
As of the 15th of November 2022, the World has reached 8 billion and counting. 11 years after passing the seven-billion milestone, the World’s population going by the World Population Clock, which is actually quite disconcerting if you look at it long enough, currently shows the population at 8,000,010, 950.
Although there has been a rapid growth of late, experts are predicting that society will change quite dramatically in the coming century, and will begin to steadily decline, as the birth rate goes down, and the death rate continues along its current path.
Middle-income countries, mostly in Asia, accounted for the most growth, with some 700 million births since 2011. India added about 180 million people and is set to surpass China as the world’s most populous nation next year.
Births have been most noticeably on the decline in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
