Indigenous musicians Briggs and Thelma Plum have called out two individuals via social media for dressing up in elaborate blackface costumes.
The image came to the attention of Briggs and Plum after Victorian Sis Austin re-shared the photo of the two men on Facebook after confronting them about it. According to her post, the men were dressed up for an Aussie icon themed party.
Briggs and Plum both shared the photo, commenting:
While the comments received mostly positive support, there has been a decent sized backlash against the two, with most artists receiving a considerable amount of abuse on their Facebook pages.
Several Aussie artists have shown their support, including Hilltop Hoods and Funkoars.
