The Zimbabwean-Australian rapper has released a new video, cosplaying as three iconic Kims: Lil’ Kim, Kim Kardashian, and Kim Possible.
Kim is Maidza’s first release since her 2020 mixtape Last Year Was Weird Vol 2 and, true to the badass rapper’s style, it goes hard. The rapper maintains a wavy flow over a hip-hop beat that rides on chopped up electronic samples, parading through the video in outfits that pay cultural homage to Kim’s legacy.
“The idea for the song came from Kim Possible, an iconic figure from my childhood—she always came out on top,” Maidza said.
“I wanted to make a song to remind those who question me that I will always figure it out. And once we started planning the video, we had the idea to add iconic moments from other famous Kims in my lifetime,” her statement continued.
