“Donald Trump” made an unexpected cameo in Disney+’s live stream broadcast of Elton John U.S. farewell concert.
Elton John concert viewers on Sunday night were surprised by the ‘Donald Trump’ caption on Disney+ due to what was an apparent technical malfunction.
Viewers tuning into “Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium,” John’s final North American concert live-streamed on Disney+ on Sunday, spotted some surprising “Donald Trump” text in the closed captions.
The ex-president’s name popped up in the closed captions due to a technical glitch at the streaming service’s external vendor, due to a technical glitch, not because the live stream was hacked or at the mercy of a rogue employee.
Disney+ has declined to comment, but speculation on special media puts it down to the fact that Disney+ enlisted an outside news vendor to produce the live closed-captioning, which used automated speech-to-text recognition and an operator to check the transcription.
The caption error did not however mar the night of nights, and Elton John went on to perform his biggest hits, including “Bennie and the Jets,” “Tiny Dancer,” “I’m Still Standing,” “Crocodile Rock” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” Dua Lipa, Kiki Dee and Brandi Carlile each honored Elton John on stage with duet performances of “Cold Heart,” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”
Disney will be firing someone. They snuck Donald Trump into the closed captioning of the Elton John Live concert for about 30 seconds and then started to delete it. #DisneyPlus pic.twitter.com/rJu156hEG2
