Women in music production unite to support women in Afghanistan

Women in music production organisations are set to host a masterclass with star engineer Olga FitzRoy, with donations to support women in Afghanistan.

A collection of organisations that promote women in music production, including Music Production for Women (MPW), Saffron Music, We Are Moving The Needle, Equalize Music Production, and She Knows Tech, are joining forces to host a webinar with award-winning recording and mix engineer, Olga FitzRoy.

Titled ‘What to Consider to Get the Best Recordings’, the webinar will take place on December 9. While attendance is free, donations are encouraged and will be forwarded to Care International to support women in Afghanistan.

Olga FitzRoy has had an exemplary career in the studio, racking up credits that include Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Paul McCartney, and George Michael — not to mention soundtrack work on The Crown and Doctor Who. The one-hour masterclass focuses on capturing the magic at the source, no matter if it’s a vocal or instrument take.

As well as having a formidable record in the studio, FitzRoy is a passionate advocate for the advancement of women’s education. “I would have nothing if I hadn’t been allowed to study and work – I believe women and girls in Afghanistan deserve the exact same rights,” she writes.
