Banoffee – Reign Down

My biggest girl crush this year has just released her EP and I couldn’t be more excited, prepare for a big fan-girl review…

Melbourne based and signed to Remote Control/Two Bright Lakes, Banoffee (maybe one day, when we’re friends, I’ll get to call her Martha), has graced us with some of the best girl R&B this year. Co-produced by one of our favourites, Oscar Key Sung and pre-released on Spotify last week, this EP proves that Banoffee is on the up and everyone should be paying attention.

Banoffee

Banoffee’s combo of soft vocals and empowering lyrics makes her EP the ultimate break-up soundtrack for all you brokenhearted boys and girls .

Banoffee has soft vocals, as sweet as her name, paired with hard, girl-power lyrics. This EP is the ultimate break-up soundtrack to prepare you for the summer, starting with the vulnerable, down-tempo Ohhhhh Owwww, allowing you to indulge in your heartache and ending with the sun-filled, sugary dance track Lets Go To The Beach. Even if you hate going to the beach and the never-ending days of finding sand in places you don’t want sand, you’re going to want to go there after this and you’re going to be over your ex too. Just sayin’.

Check out her infectious dance routine in the clip for Reign Down, directed by Alice Glenn.

Choreographed dance moves and the the ability to make the kind of hairstyles my mum made me go to school with look ridiculously cool, there’s nothing not to love about Banoffee.

Basically, lets make breakfast, fuck everything and go to the beach and on the way back sit on the train till the last stop and listen to this EP over and over again.

You can find the full EP on Spotify, buy it from iTunes and if you want a preview of her stuff you can find some of the tracks as well as a dreamy Leona Lewis cover on her Soundcloud – whatever it takes, just make sure you listen to her!
