Britp-pop icons Blur have announced that they are returning with their new album The Magic Whip. The album is slated for an April 27 release. In addition to the announcement the band have released a lyric video for Go Out the first offering from The Magic Whip.
The announcement was made via a live streamed press conference form a Chinese restaurant hosted by BBC Radio head honcho Zane Lowe. There were murmurings that the band had previously recorded 15 songs for an album last year which was quickly dashed by front man Damon Albarn who blamed hot weather for halting the band’s progress. Since then the band have kept the project quiet until the completion of The Magic Whip was completed yesterday.
This comes off the back of the news that Albarn’s other high profile project Gorillaz are also returning with new music this year.
