While us average young people of the world are saving our dollars with false hopes of someday cracking into a seemingly impenetrable housing market… others are out there dropping nearly 500 grand on old Bob Dylan guitars.
However, through all my bitterness, I’ve gotta admit… if I had that much cash to throw around, I’d probably be doing the same thing.
If you need a reminder that there are people out there heaps richer than you… The guitar Bob Dylan played on his first electric tour just sold for nearly 500 grand.
In 1965, Bob Dylan embarked on a particularly significant national US tour, as it was the first tour on which he played an electric guitar.
Earlier this year, that very guitar – a Fender Telecaster – went for auction at Julien’s Music Icons Sale, and has now been sold for $490,000.
The iconic guitar has featured on a range of Dylan albums including Blonde on Blonde and The Basement Tapes.
This August, Dylan will be returning to Oz with a huge national tour. And although you won’t be seeing the ’65 Telecaster in action, this is definitely a tour you don’t wanna miss.
Tickets go on sale this Wednesday… and I’m sure they’re a little more affordable than Dylan’s old guitars.
