Newtown Festival is back for another year and the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre (NCC) have just announced a handful of ancillary events preceding the big guy on Sunday 11 November.
The festival series allows the NCC to collaborate with local businesses, creatives and groups to further support their centre’s ability to generate funds and awareness for disadvantaged members of the community.
The NCC’s Newtown Festival ancillary celebrations will offer 20 different events featuring a wide array of activities and showcases from September to November.
The festival series will provide incredible entertainment for people of all ages with intimate live gigs, street art, an open air-cinema, kids’ workshops, story sessions, and information seminars.
The Newtown Neighbourhood Centre aims to encourage the community to be creative, completely inclusive, resilient, and self-reliant.
“Providing direct assistance for people who are the most vulnerable, with a particular focus on those at risk of social isolation and homelessness, targeted by domestic and family violence, those suffering from mental illness, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.”
The NCC’s aim is to support and uplift members of the community that are that are inherently more disadvantaged than others. All proceeds will go towards keeping Newtown’s unique and diverse culture alive and thriving.
The Newtown Neighbourhood Centre Festival Series will take place between Sunday 23 September and Sunday 11 November. Find more information here.
