Watch the first trailer for the upcoming Wax Trax! Records documentary

From humble beginnings as a record shop in Chicago to a huge independent record label, Wax Trax! sure has a fascinating story behind it.

It is without a doubt that the Chicago-based label played a hugely influential role in the new wave and punk scenes in the 1980s and 1990s, so much so that it is getting its own documentary!

Iconic Chicago punk label Wax Trax! Records documentary Industrial Accident to release alongside a soundtrack of rare and unreleased tracks.

Julia Nash, daughter of Wax Trax! co-founder Jim Nash has directed a film about the origins and life of the label, featuring interviews from Steve Albini, Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl and many more. The film aims to tell the story of the brand and evolution from record store to influential label to bankruptcy.

Creating a record label is never easy, and the film will also examine some of the difficulties faced, ranging from convincing artists to move to Chicago, to transitioning to one of America’s most influential independent labels in history,

A soundtrack will be released alongside the film featuring rare and unreleased tracks from artists including Ministry and KMFDM. Both are due out April 16.
