Legendary American singer-songwriter John Prine announces 2020 Australian tour

Legendary American singer-songwriter John Prine has announced a headline tour of Australia next year to go along with his confirmed appearance at next year’s Bluesfest.

In the announcement, Prine said, “We are really excited to be heading back to Australia. Fiona [Prine’s wife] and I loved every minute of our time there earlier this year. Looking forward to seeing you all again in Melbourne, Sydney and in Adelaide this time too!” For fans in Adelaide, this will be Prine’s first time visiting the city in 27 years.

John Prine has announced a headline tour in Australia next year, visiting Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, along with next year’s Bluesfest.

An icon of Americana, Prine has been making music since the early 70s, known for his creative and introspective lyricism about life, current events and love. Some of Australia’s most beloved homegrown artists have also praised Prine and cited him as an inspiration.

Vance Joy has said, “John Prine finds the beauty in the ordinary stuff of life. He speaks directly to our hearts,” while Kasey Chambers has said, “John Prine is one of my favourite songwriters and biggest inspirations of all time.”

Prine released his first solo record in 13 years last year, earning him the highest-charting success of his career.
