Let Fritz take you through the drama of NYE with their new video for single Jan 1

Novascotian dream-pop artist Fritz has delivered another tasty, fuzz-laced single in the form of, Jan 1. The song delivers a slice of life on the theme of new years eve celebrations and their inevitable path to drama. Showcasing all the qualities we’ve come to love from Fritz, the latest song is sure to have audiences bopping along in no time.

The video for Jan 1 is fairly self explanatory. It shows vocalist and brain power behind Fritz, Tilly Murphy, solemnly navigating some bland NYE party. As the night progresses, the pressure of ringing in the new year becomes too much to bare as the party erupts in tears and flying fists.

New Years Eve never lives up to it’s high expectations. Let Fritz take you through the drama with their new single Jan 1.

Director Michaela Holmes shows a Tim Burton-esque eye for colour, having placid blue tones throughout until an ominous red engulfs the frame as the party descends into a bit of pre-midnight madness.

Fritz has been slinging out catchy tracks from her bedroom for a while now. Her self-titled 2017 debut was a more brooding introduction to her sound, yet still gave Australia an insight of the genius to come. Following the record, Tilly Murphy and her gang have been popping out single after single of radio worthy gems, from Biggest Fool in the World, to the Run For Cover-esque Summer Holiday, to this year’s Ghost Poke. Fritz can do no wrong.

Their acclaim has even reached an international market, seeing the young Aussie band land themselves on the lauded South by South West showcase in Texas last year.

With an extensive tour to celebrate the release of the new single, it’s clear Fritz aren’t slowing up.
