An Austrian brothel has started operating as a COVID-19 vaccination centre and to incentivise the public, they’re offering one free session with every jab.
The FunPalast: Sex Star Sauna Club in Vienna, has offered a free 30-minute sauna session with the “lady of their choice” for every customer coming in for their COVID-19 shot.
The club thought of the concept as a way to increase business, since the decline in customers during the pandemic. Vaccination appointments will be offered every Monday between 4 and 10 pm until the end of November when new COVID restrictions take place.
The Austrian population is currently sitting at just 64% fully vaccinated and recently saw a spike in COVID-19 cases. In 4 weeks time, bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and brothels will only be available to those who are fully vaccinated.
“It’s actually such a great action to make such a statement, especially in our industry. And now we have a great vaccination site and we are very popular,” club director Christoph Leilacher told Reuters TV.
The club believes they’ll be able to reach a certain demographic that has been slower to get vaccinated, FunPalast manager explained to Reuters,
“Many men, very many men with a migration background, virtually refuse vaccination or don’t even know that you can be vaccinated,”
“And since we are actually reaching this target group, we decided to set up a vaccination [clinic] here.”
The offer does not only extend to men or previous customers but is open to women and children as well.
Children over 14 are allowed to get vaccinated at the clinic but must be accompanied by an adult.
The FunPalast has lost 50% of their clientele since the pandemic began and are hoping the new initiative will boost their business closer to pre-pandemic numbers.
