Microsoft surprised Halo Infinite fans by releasing the game’s multiplayer beta today as part of Xbox’s 20th anniversary.
In a spectacular Uno Reverse move, Microsoft has surprised many Halo fans with the release of the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta during their Xbox 20th anniversary stream. This announcement came after the game’s official release was delayed from its initial release date of 15th November, the day the original Xbox debuted along with Halo: Combat Evolved.
The multiplayer beta is now live, and is free to play on both PC and Xbox, with download links on the respective store pages. Below you can find a list of the recommended system requirements for PC players.
According to the official developer blog post, all Battle Pass and customisation items that players receive during the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta will remain with them after the game’s official launch next month.
Do note that you will have to redo your keybinds if you are playing the beta on PC, as it appears to be using a different client from its predecessors.
In what I would personally consider a notable pro gamer move, Halo Infinite has completely removed gender options from its player customisation. This allows players to choose freely between three body types and eight voice lines with no ‘gender locked’ appearances, letting Spartans across the gender spectrum feel represented. We love to see it.
How to access the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta
If you’re ready to jump in, players should head to their respective Xbox stores on their Xbox console or PC. The listing you’re looking for is Halo Infinite, not Halo Infinite (Campaign) – which is the full version coming on December 8th.
It’s free to download, so you should be able to add the game to your cart, and get downloading straight away. The download size is about 25GB on the Xbox and 26GB on PC, which is comparatively small compared to many of its Xbox Series X/S contemporaries.
As mentioned, this multiplayer beta will jump straight into Season 1 of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer calendar, meaning Season 1 will be extended to compensate.
