A documentary on the making of The Beach Boys’ iconic album Pet Sounds and how it rose to rival the Beatles is on its way.
Last year, Pet Sounds celebrated its 50th anniversary; to celebrate Showtime have announced a new documentary on the making of the iconic record including rare archival footage and unheard studio outtakes.
The documentary will also feature interviews with Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson as well as with Al Jardine, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and David Marks, who left the band prior to the album’s recording.
As Pitchfork reports, the documentary will explore “the story of the creation of the record that cemented The Beach Boys reputation as a leading force to rival The Beatles.”
Keep an eye out for Beach Boys: Making Pet Sounds – it should be out this April!
