An unprecedented insight into the making of The Beach Boys’ iconic album Pet Sounds is coming to Showtime

Showtime have just announced that a new documentary on The Beach Boys‘ iconic album Pet Sounds is on its way.

A documentary on the making of The Beach Boys’ iconic album Pet Sounds and how it rose to rival the Beatles is on its way.

Last year, Pet Sounds celebrated its 50th anniversary; to celebrate Showtime have announced a new documentary on the making of the iconic record including rare archival footage and unheard studio outtakes.

The documentary will also feature interviews with Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson as well as with Al Jardine, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and David Marks, who left the band prior to the album’s recording.

As Pitchfork reports, the documentary will explore “the story of the creation of the record that cemented The Beach Boys reputation as a leading force to rival The Beatles.”
