Andre 3000 ends 17-Year Hiatus with new album ‘New Blue Sun’

“I play it for my homies. I play it for friends, play it for artists, directors — just to see their reaction more than anything”

Andre 3000 has just released his latest musical endeavor, an instrumental album titled “New Blue Sun,” and he’s chosen to give the inaugural listening experience to none other than the eclectic minds of Tyler The Creator and Frank Ocean.

In a recent chat with NPR that has the music world psyched, Andre shared the details on his low-key session at Tyler’s house, casually joined by Frank Ocean – like its just any other Tuesday.

Opening up about the strategy behind this exclusive preview, Andre explained, “I wanted to see how a younger audience would perceive it… I reached out to Tyler [the Creator] for him to check it out, and I went to his house.

And speaking of royalty, Frank Ocean, being the enigmatic artist he is, already has a favorite track from the upcoming album. Andre shared, “And I think Frank pointed out one of his favorite tracks out of the three.”

Andre being Andre, he’s keeping it low-key, not dropping too many details. But what’s crystal clear is that this isn’t just any album; it’s sounds like a sonic drop that’s received the stamp of approval from some major  heavyweights.  “I play it for my homies. I play it for friends, play it for artists, directors — just to see their reaction more than anything. So I was just happy with what I was getting,” Andre shared, giving us a glimpse into his artistic process.

In recent years, Andre 3000 has maintained a relatively low profile in terms of solo music releases, yet he has remained active in various artistic pursuits.

Beyond his musical endeavors, he delved into the realm of acting and took on the role of Jimi Hendrix in the 2013 film “Jimi: All Is by My Side.”

While not focusing on solo albums, Andre’s collaborations with artists like Kid Cudi and Anderson .Paak, and the sporadic reunions with OutKast for festival performances, have kept fans eagerly anticipating his next artistic move.
