The Babe Rainbow are a psychedelic band from Byron Bay, New South Wales, conceived at Rainbow Bay in 2014 by Angus Dowling and Jack “Cool Breeze” Crowther and formed the following year with Elliot “Dr Love-Wisdom” O’Reilly, later joined by drummer Miles Myjavec. They emerged with early singles including Secret Enchanted Broccoli Forest and Love Forever, the group drew on 1960s psychedelia and surf culture, describing themselves in a 2014 interview as “farmers, poets… surfing veggies”.
Signed to Melbourne label Flightless Records, the band released a self-titled debut album in 2017, the year Peace Blossom Boogy became one of their most recognised songs. Its follow-up, Double Rainbow, arrived in July 2018, led by the single Supermoon and its Kristofski-directed video, and was followed by a national tour and an appearance at Splendour in the Grass. The 2019 album Today featured the singles Morning Song and Something New. Later releases included the 2020 single Zeitgeist and Your Imagination, a 2021 collaboration with Jaden.
