Bishop Briggs’ first release of the year is an anthem of self-acceptance

Indie-pop singer Bishop Briggs is back with her first release of 2019. Check out her brand new single, Champion.

This triumphant return follows previous single River, which certified gold in Australia back in April 2018.

Bishop Briggs has dropped a brand new self-acceptance anthem, Champion. The single comes off her upcoming new album, set to be released later in 2019.

Champion is a powerful anthem co-written by American artist K.Flay and produced by Joel Little (best known for his work with Taylor Swift). The track begins with an intimate guitar strumming but swiftly blasts into a victorious combination of heart-thudding beats and an undeniably catchy chorus.

This breakthrough single marks the first of her upcoming album, which will be arriving later this year.

In a press release, Briggs explains the origins of the strong self-acceptance track:

“Champion is a song that I wrote when my self-esteem was at an all-time low. As a woman, I feel like I have been socially trained to be so many things at once – sexy yet sweet, confident yet humble, independent yet submissive, smart but not too smart – the list is never ending.”

Writing this song helped me look at the question – what if I could just be myself? What if there was a world where my vulnerability was what made me powerful? What if there was a day I could proudly, without hesitation, look in the mirror and say, “I AM A CHAMPION”, purely because I’m choosing to be myself? Champion is about accepting yourself today, as you are.”
