Listen to Charm of Finches’ playful new single ‘Middle Of Your Mess’

Charm of Finches lament the toxicity of female friendships on Middle Of Your Mess, the latest single from their imminent album.

Charm of Finches have today (March 15) released ‘Middle Of Your Mess’, the latest single lifted from their forthcoming album ‘Marlinchen in the Snow’.

Brimming with summery resplendence, the upbeat folk-pop cut sees the Melbourne sister duo deliver their signature blood harmonies alongside 60s backing vocals and laid-back vintage snares.

Lyrically, Middle Of Your Mess reflects on the meanness disguised as sweetness that can sometimes underpin female friendships.

Here, the duo lament being caught in “girl talk,” where they “can’t help but feel a little out of place.” The single is accompanied by an official music video, which was produced and directed by Charm of Finches’ themselves.

Taking aesthetic cues from ‘Saltburn’ and ‘Asteroid City‘, the beautifully stylised clip sees Charm of Finches enjoy a charming picnic that soon goes awry, in keeping with the duo’s gothic tendencies. Watch the music video for ‘Middle Of Your Mess’ below.

‘Middle Of Your Mess’ is the third preview of ‘Marlinchen in the Snow’, Charm of Finches’ fourth full-length album set for release on April 19. The tracklist will also include previous singles ‘Atlantis’ and ‘Clean Cut’, and was produced by Daniel Ledwell.

The album — a follow-up to 2021’s ‘Wonderful Oblivion’ — was recorded in the depths of winter in Nova Scotia, and is said to be inspired by the frozen beauty of the landscape as well as the fragility of relationships.

Elsewhere, Charm of Finches are set to embark on an Australian tour in support of the album, with dates slated for New South Wales, ACT, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia throughout April and May. Find ticketing details here
