WARNING: The following article discusses sexual assault and abuse.
CHVRCHES shows are about to have way more security and police presence. Following a statement released by the band criticising Marshmellos’ decision to work with Chris Brown, the band have been blasted with death and rape threats.
The statement posted to the band’s Facebook page calls out previous collaborator Marshmello and his collaboration with Chris Brown and Tyga. The statement has since garnered over 1500 comments, many of which are coming from Chris Brown fans (and are pretty horrible to read).
CHVRCHES have come under attack from Chris Brown fans following a statement condemning his history with abuse and abuse allegations.
“We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmellos’ choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown.
We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behavior. That is not something we can or will stand behind,” they said.
Following the statement, Chris Brown hit back saying that “they’re the type of people I wish walked in front of a speeding bus full of mental patients.”
Chvrches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry has also since revealed that due to the severity of the threats, she will not be returning home following their current tour.
I am not staying in my own home when we finish tour because the threats we have received have reached such a scale. We have to have the police at our shows now. If that’s what I deserve for saying mainstream music should be more morally conscious, then so be it. You’re right.

To say this whole situation is fucked is an understatement. Standing up for victims and what you feel is right should never be treated with this kind of venom.
