COG have released their second single of 2018, and it’s going to tear you a new one

Back in 2016, Australia’s undisputed kings of prog rock COG announced they were reuniting after a lengthy hiatus. This news brought tears to the eyes of music fans nation wide – myself included.

Fast forward two years, and here we are with our second taste of new COG music this year.

With a fresh, blistering new single, and the announcement of a new national tour; prog rock heroes COG are back in full force.

In January, we were not only treated to their first new single in ten years, The Middle, but also a huge national tour.

The band’s second single of 2018, Altered States, is now here and once again they’ve announced another huge national tour. This is all getting too much for my heart.

While recording The Middle, the band stumbled upon a forgotten gem that had been written around the time Sharing Space came out in 2008.

After being remixed by Forrester Seville (Karnivool, Shihad), the band have now decided this song is worthy of release… and oh god, it’s huge.

In typical COG fashion, Altered States is exploding with crunching guitars and blistering vocals. The track builds and builds, until it reaches something truly epic.
