After confirming Wonder Woman is not straight, DC Comics have announced two other female characters who are not only queer, but are in a relationship with each other.
In DC’s Bombshell comic series, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are definitely a couple and their relationship will be a pivotal focus in an upcoming chapter.
In a move that is unsurprising to some but controversial to many, DC Comics announced via Twitter that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are officially a couple in the Bombshells comics series.
DC’s Bombshells comic series re-imagines female superheroes on the front-line fighting World War II with leading ladies Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl.
The announcement is a shock to some fans but completely expected by others. The superhero duo have been acquainted since the 1990’s Batman: The Animated Series. Since then they have had a flirty relationship depicted in the comics which have kept readers guessing. In last year’s Bombshells #42 the anti-heroes shared a passionate kiss which stimulated even more interest in their relationship.
DC comic fans showed their divided opinions on Twitter – does their relationship align with their back story? Are DC Comics utilising the ‘sex sells’ tactic?
The Advocate shared some preview pages of #79 as well as a link to download the digital copy.
