Dinosaur Jr. have just announced that they are in the studio and working on a new album.
This will be the 12th studio album from Dinosaur Jr. following Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not, which was released in August of 2016.
The news of a brand new album from alternative rock icons Dinosaur Jr. has sent fans into a frenzy, ready to soak up some fresh tunes.
Bassist Lou Barlow took to Instagram to reveal the exciting news news. The rocker posted a screenshot of a text thread between himself and the band’s manager Brian Schwartz, who gave the green light to share that the band is working on a brand new album. The Dinosaur Jr. rocker referred to frontman J. Mascis and captioned the post:
“once the snow stops ima get down t Js and get on w/ it”
Dinosaur Jr. have had a significant influence on the alt-rock scene since their formation in 1984. In particular, the group has been celebrated for the distinctive way they incorporate classic rock influences into their sound, as well as the band’s unconventional use of feedback, extreme volume, loud-quiet dynamics, and Mascis’ unusual vocals. Dinosaur Jr. were also famous for their slacker ethos and relaxed attitude which so many epitomised throughout the ’80s and ’90s.
Since the band’s latest (2016) release, each group member has been busy in their own right with a number of personal and solo projects, as well as international tours and Dinosaur Jr.’s three-day rock event titled Camp Fuzz.
